Those who follow The Fashion Commentator on Facebook and Twitter already know that this year I can’t attend the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the most important design fair of the world that animates every corner of the city with presentations and events. For the lucky ones who will be in Milan from April 8 to 14, I decided to post a mini-daily guide to the most interesting events that mix Art, Fashion and Design.

Barnaba Fornasetti, son of the great artist and designer Piero, presents an exhibition with some of the iconic furniture pieces of the Fornasetti collection as well as new creations like the “Original Sin” table, the “Frutto del peccato” buffet side cabinet and the FORNASETTI II wallpaper collection by Cole and Son.

Opening of the exhibition Chipperfield veste Valentino at CASABELLA laboratorio
The CASABELLA lab hosts models, photos and drawings by David Chipperfield for the interiors of the new Valentino flagship stores in Los Angeles, Milan, New York and Paris.The typical themes of the architectural tradition such as the sequence of spaces, the portals and the frames are reinterpreted by David Chipperfield in chic and contemporary architectures. Traditional materials like marble, plaster, wood and glass interact with the high tech carbon fiber, brass and leather, as well as the fashion innovations made by the new creative directors Chiuri and Piccioli, respect the Valentino brand style.

IDEAL HOUSE – Celebrate the OMA collection for Knoll
The Prada Foundation hosts the exhibition of the furniture for the Ideal House designed by the OMA studio of Rem Koolhaas for the historic design brand Knoll. The prototypes jumped to the headlines in January because they were used as the scenery set of the Prada Fall Winter 2013 men’s fashion show. The concept goes back to the furniture of a typical middle-class house revisited in a contemporary and high tech version, as well as the Prada men’s collection was a mix of classic tailoring and casual style. The ideal home is also set up an the Knoll stand at the Salone del Mobile (Fiera Rho / Pero).
