As part of Pitti Immagine 82 events, the Antonella Villanova Gallery at Palazzo Ricasoli in Florence, presented “DELPHINARIUM“, the first monographic exhibition dedicated to Delfina Delettrez and curated by the critic and art historian Emanuela Nobile Mino.

Born in 1987, Delfina Delettrez belongs to the Fendi family’s fourth generation.
After studying costume history and an internship at Chanel, she got into design devoting herself to the art of jewelry launching her own line.
She soon managed to stand out as one of the most interesting and eclectic jewelers.

The exhibition traces the milestones of her first five years of works (2007-2012) contextualizing the jewels in the iconic art installations
retrieved from the presentations of the collections. For Delfina Delettrez the installation is part of the jewel itself, because it immediately evokes the inspiration of the collection. Her jewels are precious objects on the border between art, fashion and dreams. She often took several references from Salvador Dalì’s surrealism or from De Chirico’s Metaphysics.

The frescoed halls of the Antonella Villanova gallery have been turned into a macro-wunderkammer that collects the visionary and imaginative world of Delfina, the Delphinarium. It’s impossible not to be fascinated by the assembly line of the 50’s showing the “Roll-in-Stones” collection with eyes, collars, bracelets, golden heads, armillary spheres, and earrings with rubies-blood drops. Everything turns, everything is trembling, everything flows, everything comes back.
“Love is in the Hair” ironic collection with hair locks sealed in the heart shaped resin, that become relics and votive offerings on the neck of quirky science fiction characters.
Metaphysical black and white checkered mannequins for the “Metalphysic” collection, made of collars with mini Roman mosaics;
small white columns with body parts make up the set for the famous “Anatomik” collection.
The real surprise comes in the large salon with the skylight. Three spherical caskets host real insects and amphibians that interact with the creations of Delfina Delettrez. Bees buzzing around collars and cuffs placed over a large honeycomb.
Enamelled rings and bracelets are placed on a silver wood and a bed of moss, which is confused with the many colors of the little frogs from around the world.
A large crab walks undisturbed close to rubies, diamonds and pearls tarantulas, while two white axolotls swim freely below them.
Delphinarium: an interesting exhibition that succeeds in getting a smile, transporting the visitor in the eclectic, sophisticated, provocative, dark, romantic and bizarre imaginary world of a globetrotter girl who flirts with fashion and art, creating her hypnotic jewels. The exhibition will run until September 10th at the Antonella Villanova Gallery.

Mi piace tantissimo Delfina Delettrez.
In genere preferisco i bijou, ma i suoi gioielli vanno al di là; così surreali, gotici e ironici, sono un mondo a parte. Per la loro follia mi piacciono anche quelli di Victoire de Castellane, ma ammetto di preferire Delfina.
Sarebbe bello venire a Firenze anche per un bel tour di mostre che ruotano intorno alla moda. 😉

Ciao Ale! Pensa che il suo spirito gothic si vedeva anche nel catering. Delle ragazze in camice bianco servivano vodka e succo di mirtillo in delle provette da laboratorio. Sembravano campioni di sangue un po’ alla Dr.Jekyll, Mr.Hyde, Frankenstein e Dracula. 😉 Comunque l’istallazione nel salone vetrato è stata quella più sbalorditiva. 🙂
Come ho già suggerito a cachemire victim, se venite a Firenze non dovreste farvi sfuggire il tour culturale dell’artigianato e della moda 😉

Sì sono stato all’inaugurazione, nei due video si vede un bel po’ di gente sullo sfondo. Nei miei post preferisco dare spazio alla creatività del designer piuttosto che alla parte mondana dell’evento, comunque ti confermo c’era la stampa internazionale e anche molti stilisti e creativi amici della designer.
