Until January 15th there’s time to discover Gianfranco Ferré and Maria Luigia: unexpected similarities one of the most interesting and suggestive Italian fashion exhibitions of 2016, that does not take place in fashion capital like Milan, Florence, or Rome, but in Parma. The exhibition is part of the initiatives for the bicentenary of the arrival in Parma of Duchess Maria Luigia of Habsburg-Lorraine, and it is combined with the exhibition Neoclassic on Michel Comte, in a whole project called Ferré and Comte / DETAILS. Great interpreters between fashion and art created by Alberto Nodolini and produced by Ankamoki.
Franca Sozzani has died. I’m feeling sorrow and bitterness because as much as in recent years I didn’t like anymore the (non) contents of the magazine and some dynamics of her blog, I owe a lot to Vogue Italia’s editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani.
Young Tuscan entrepreneur Generoso Vacchiano presented the new VACCHIANO 2016/2017 men’s shoes collection as the result of his personal idea of Made in Italy which combines tradition, luxury and elegance. The event was held in September, in the Vacchiano showroom at Marina di Scarlino, the luxury yacht dock near Grosseto. Unfortunately the “old” big names of American fashion are just able to propose clothes with silhouettes inspired to the ’90s, covered with flowers or made with shiny fabrics that worst commentators and bloggers usually define as “dreamy”; but people are more interested in outsider designers, so: who are they?
September is like the new year’s eve of Fashion. As usual everything re-starts: the cycle of the fashion weeks and the rumors about the challenges for the newly elected creative directors who must show to the world (and to themselves) to be still “useful” for the company who hired them. Relaunch Between daily routines and new personal goals, September is the month for getting back in the games soon after a cathartic process; therefore, having reworked new ideas and insights, I came to the conclusion that The Fashion Commentator must evolve. It should become helpful not only to those who…
Today the journey through my Not Celebrating Birthday Wishlist continues with a high luxury item that money can’t buy: time.
In these days we had such fun reading and imagining the consequences of the long list of dreams for my Not Celebrating Birthday Wishlist. Houses (better say mansions), clothes (whole wardrobes please!), hi-tech objects (super objects), but actually today only two very simple things would be enough for me. But unfortunately I already know that it’s impossible to have them: a dinner and a hug.
