Men’s fashion is literally changing its course and the last Milan fashion week has been the proof of it. Just a few minutes after the sporty-inspired collection by Giorgio Armani, it was Ermanno Scervino‘s turn, the one who based his fashion career on the casual-chic concept, and who can be considered as the precursor of this new menswear revolution which wants a sporty, relaxed, but still elegant man.
Giorgio Armani Men’s Spring Summer 2014 – finale It’s been a long time since I was moved for a fashion show, but it’s incredible how Giorgio Armani has awakened my sleepy enthusiasm for fashion with the simple style of the SS 2014 menswear collection. His man doesn’t blind people with vibrant colors, he doesn’t impose his figure with oversized garments, he is not a rock star who screams his presence through studded leather and jewelry, and he isn’t a decadent dandy who travels the world on a cruise; the Armani man is the contemporary gentleman par excellence. Yes, because contemporary elegance…
Yesterday Giorgio Armani announced that from the next edition of Milan Menswear Fashion Week (22-25 June) he will launch a special program to provide practical support for the Italian fashion system by hosting the shows of the most promising emerging Italian designers in his Armani Teatro. The first appointment will be the Spring Summer 2014 collection by Andrea Pompilio, the undisputed prince of men’s style in the last three editions of Pitti Uomo, who won the Who Is On Next? Vogue prize in 2011. Giorgio Armani – Andrea Pompilio
Writing today the review of the Ermanno Scervino autumn winter 2013 collection, after almost three months from the show, it would be anachronistic; especially if we consider that the fashion industry’s paces are very similar to the speed of light, making look old even what is not in the store yet. But staring at the photos of the collection I couldn’t help but reflect on the “time factor”, or rather on “the past“, and its value in fashion. Ermanno Scervino – Fall Winter 2013 collection
Shoes with high rates of sensuality that leave the instep uncovered, as if they were evening dresses with a plunging neckline. This is the mood of the Fall Winter 2013/2014 shoes collection by Alberto Moretti, who enhances the silhouettes of the feet by putting them on high stiletto heels, with Rihanna’s words engraved in the sole: “Shine bright … like a diamond in the sky.” Alberto Moretti – Fall Winter 2013 – Fatal loafers
Milan, first day of the fashion week: the fashion world is in front of the Sheraton Diana Majestic Hotel waiting for the Gucci fashion show, while the show of the eccentric, excessive and joyful fashion is going on. At the same time, in fron of the main entrance of the same hotel, a more sober queue is about to join the Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen fashion show. Two diametrically opposed universes, that are part of the same fashion system, show their collections in the same location.
On February 20th, began the Milan Fashion Week and the return of Angelo Marani in the official calendar was one of the first surprises of the opening day.
In the fourth and final day of My Milan Fashion Week I saw only the Ermanno Scervino fashion show, and if I have to be honest, I stayed in Milan until the morning of February 23 only for this reason. I couldn’t miss it! Soon I will publish my official review, but unofficially and giving you a purely personal opinion, I can say that it was one of the most beautiful collections seen in these days. Several designers were inspired by the punk mood, glancing at the sculptural shapes of Balenciaga, while Scervino stood out for the sheer elegance and…

Second day of Milan Fashion Week and as I promised, here is another short-post to let you live a little bit of my fashion week before the posts of the single collecions. Milan is completely paralyzed by the snow, or rather, fashion people are completely paralyzed by the snow. Some photographers complain that this year the street-style is undertone, because of these terrible weather conditions. Are we seeing a return to sobriety? No, it’s just really cold.
