As many of you already know, I’m not usual to share short post on fashion week. I prefer to review every single collection in its little details, but this this time I decided to update my blog as a sort of daily diary, with “stolen moments” from the backstages, in the catwalks or in the streets near the fashion-locations. Obviously as soon as possible I’ll post even the review of the singular collections! Models after Gucci fashion show First show by Paola Frani in black, red and white with floral and geometric patterns. Second show Angelo…
Lately has been released the new Gucci Spring Summer 2013 advertising campaign “signed” by the lens of Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, the most sought-after photographers by the fashion industry. Their passion for editing with saturated colors and low brightness this time clashed with the vibrant solid colors looks worn by Anja Rubik and Karmen Pedaru on a neutral background. Frida Giannini with the special Gucci time machine take us at the end of the 60s, when Diana Vreeland called her models “personalities” and put them on full pages by the shots of Richard Avedon and Gian Paolo Barbieri.…
The Parisian Spring Summer 2013 Haute Couture week has become the stage for the battle between the French couturier and the Italian masters. The fashion designers, who always try to concile the needs of the contemporary women with the typical “haute couture princess-dream”, seemed to be divided into four categories: Paris Haute Couture Spring Summer 2013 – Dior, Valentino (details)
Under the rain the guests await their turn to enter the Philological Circle of Via Clerici in Milan. In the entrance hall of the Art Nouveau building, a lot of balloons invade the space up to the upper floor, it seems a great party. Between wet umbrellas and dripping raincoats, the lights go up on “coquillages et crustacés”, the spring summer 2013 collection by .normaluisa .
Over this short but intense Christmas break I decided to dedicate the first posts of the new year to the woman Spring Summer 2013 collections, concluding the series of reviews dedicated to the Milan Fashion Week. I start this little tour through Italian fashion with the collection of Maurizio Pecoraro: a Sicilian born designer (1966), who is still called “emerging”, due to a silly Italian cultural vice of not considering the designers who came out after the mid 90s (despite he launched his own brand in 1998). He has a mature and recognizable aesthetic vision and his long career would…
During the Milan fashion week, the fashion shows are a great opportunity to discover a “secret city”, made of breathtaking locations out of the tourist trails. The young Italian-Haitian fashion designer Stella Jean has presented her spring summer 2013 collection in the beautiful late-baroque church of the Rotonda della Besana. The show begins with the first episode of a fashion serial by Ilaria Curcio and Philip Jacobsson named LES FILLES DE L’EAU. It speaks about three women from different worlds searching the solution of an enigma. Water is the only element of conjunction. Obviously, the clothes of the protagonists are by Stella Jean.
As always, the Anteprima fashion show is one of the main “evening events” of the Milan fashion week official calendar. This time the Italian-Japanese brand has announced that will celebrate soon its 20th anniversary with two capsule collections in collaboration with the emerging fashion designer Ezumi Yasutoshi and the jewel designer Matthew Campbell Laurenza. As you can easily imagine, the parterres of the Anteprima fashion shows are characterized by a huge number of Japanese guests, and it’s not so extra-ordinary seeing such elegant scenes like a whole row of men standing up as a sign of respect for a lady. This makes you feel as in another dimension, so far from…
At the beginning of the Milan fashion week, Juan Caro and Fabio Sasso presented the LEITMOTIV women’s Spring Summer 2013 collection titled “Dream Day“, in a huge space of an ancient building in the very central Via Dante. On the walls there were projected digital animations made by Apparati Effimeri visual designers, that physically transported the visitor into the imaginary scenarios of the prints of the collection. You were transported in front of a peaceful Hockney-like swimming pool surrounded by arabesque tiles, then under a XVIIIth century loggia overlooking a paradise on earth with a pond and birds flying in the background.
Here it is the final recap of the last Paris Fashion Week that you could follow even on The Fashion Commentator Facebook Page. In Paris there has been no news on the catwalks, but a lot of surprises, so as the delusions. But fashion goes on…and maybe it’s too late yet. We have to think to the pre-collections soon!
In the sunny afternoon of September 20th a varied crowd is waiting outside Via Manin,19 to enter the Krizia fashion show. There are the press, the bloggers, the fotobloggers (posed exclusively outside the most famous designers’ fashion shows) and a huge group of foreign buyers including rich Arabian women. At the entrance, the hostesses give to all the women a small piece of jewelry, a simple gift, with which begins an imaginary dialogue between the guests and the designer herself, that will continue through the collection.
