August, the fateful day when a “plus one” will be added to my age is approaching more and more. So, I’m continuing to draw my wishlist looking for one (or more) reason to not feel depression for celebrating 29 years. What do I really would like to include in my Not Celebrating Birthday Wishlist? A pilgrimage.
As you may know, The Fashion Commentator hosts the countdown for the non-celebration of my birthday until the 10th of August, and day by day I’m taking you in a journey through a long wishlist of dream-gifts, that now is starring the world of high technology and design thanks to the Panasonic DX800, the latest TV screen launched by the renowned Japanese brand. Who follows me on social networks already knows how much I love those documentary movies that take you into the behind the scenes of major fashion houses, such as “Dior & I” by Frédéric Tcheng, dedicated to…
Take your seats, relax while sipping a cool drink, and start reading the second post dedicated to my “Not Celebrating Birthday Wishlist”: the new daily appointment that will accompany us until August 10th, actually the date of my birthday that I don’t like to celebrate. Let’s see if through this imaginary journey I’ll change my mind on my 29 years’ party. Yesterday we got hold of some iconic Gucci by Tom Ford garments, today we continue with another of my obsessions: HOUSES.
Summer usually means vacation, leisure and idleness, although we know very well that most of us (especially freelancers) will work, maybe even more than the rest of the year. However, despite this sad reality, when I think about summer I always remember the sea of Southern Italy and my childhood passed between the Amalfi Coast and Cilento, realizing soon after that on August 10th it’s my birthday. You could say: – Aren’t you happy about that? It’s so close now! I would reply: – Of course not!
On June 14th, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence became an hotbed of fashion talents thanks to Polimoda Fashion Show, the annual show organized during Pitti Uomo, that this time celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Institute. Director Danilo Venturi led a panel of contemporary fashion guru, including Suzy Menkes, Guram Gvasalia and Linda Loppa, who judged the best collection of 2016 among the 20 selected from the Fashion Design course.
On May 21st and 22nd, Emilio Pucci opened the doors of the archives in Granaiolo, in Florentine countryside, for the third edition of “Les Journées Particulières”, a two-yearly opening event with which the LVMH luxury group welcomes the public in the headquarters of its brands.

Like it or not, his repetitive style, Karl Lagerfeld, by staging the last Chanel FW 2016 fashion show, made come true one of the most cherished dreams of those who attend this type of event. Especially journalists, bloggers, and influencers who would kill to occupy the front row of any fashion show. I’ll be more specific.
Milan is one of the world’s leading fashion capital and lately its fashion week is giving more space to new designers through several initiatives including the debut show at Armani Teatro: a sacred moment of the schedule dedicated to the new names of contemporary fashion selected by Giorgio Armani. This year was the turn of Japanese designer, Mitsuru Nishizaki and his Ujoh label, launched in 2009, after seven years as pattern maker at Yohji Yamamoto.
The beauty of chaos by Alessandro Michele for the Gucci FW 2016 collection opened the Milan Fashion Week. And for a year now, from the debut, his unusual style according to which “everything changes but nothing really changes”, has become a successful trademark that fascinates both the press and the market.
